FORSYTH, GA. — Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Travis Kennedy as Division Deputy Director of Administration effective January 16, 2015. As Division Deputy Director, Kennedy will be responsible for assisting the Division Director of Administration day to day operations of the division, specifically Financial and Asset Management.

“Travis’ continued success with the agency can be attributed to his instrumental expertise and leadership since his career began in 1999,” said Commissioner Brian Owens.  “We are excited to see Travis continue to succeed in his new role as Deputy Director of Administration.”

Kennedy began his career with the Department in February 1999 as an Accountant II in the Financial Services within the Administration division. Later that year, he was promoted to Accounting Manager over Accounts Payable within the same division. Following a brief departure to work for the Department of Transportation from 2001 to 2003, Kennedy returned as a Accounting Manager II. In 2004, he was promoted to Director of Financial Services, where he most recently served.

Kennedy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Auburn University. He has completed Corrections Leadership Institute and the Georgia Leadership Institute Executive Leadership Program.
