Graduation held at Walker State Prison

FORSYTH, Ga. – On October 21, 42 offenders graduated from the Vocational Welding Enhancement Program at Walker State Prison in Rock Springs, GA. Upon completion, the graduates received a certificate in Gas Metal Arc Welding.

“Several offenders who have completed this program throughout the state are now gainfully employed,” said Commissioner Homer Bryson. “Our hope is that these graduates will have similar success when they return to society with this high-demand skill.”

Walker partnered with Central Georgia Technical College in 2014. Since its inception, a total of 175 offenders have graduated from the program. Participants must complete the following courses to receive their certificate: Introduction to Welding Technology, Oxyfuel Cutting, and Gas Metal Arc Welding.
