GDC Investigation Results in Arrest

Providing contraband to inmates at Pulaski State Prison
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections’ (GDC) Special Agents arrested former Correctional Officer Shantria Robbins after an investigation revealed that the officer was providing contraband to inmates at Pulaski State Prison in Hawkinsville, Ga.
Former Officer Robbins is accused of violating her oath of office by bringing in tobacco inside Pulaski State Prison and giving said tobacco to inmates on at least 20 separate occasions, making an estimated total of $3,000. Charges that will brought against Robbins are Violation of Oath by a Public Office 16-01-1 and Items Prohibited for Possession by Inmates 42-5-18(b).
Robbins had been employed by GDC since March 2015 and served a total of one year and 11 months. She was terminated on February 18, 2017.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
