New Program Development Consultant Named for North Region Facilities

Alfreta Dunn-Logan Appointed

FORSYTH, Ga. — Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the appointment of Alfreta Dunn-Logan as Program Development Consultant of the Inmate Services Division. Formerly the Superintendent of West Central Integrated Treatment Facility, Dunn-Logan will now be responsible for managing and developing the vocational educational and job training programs for the North Region facilities, and the development of special projects within the facilities. Dunn-Logan will act as the liaison between the GDC and the Technical College System of Georgia and Department of Labor.

“Alfreta has demonstrated excellent leadership qualities throughout her career with the Department,” said Commissioner Homer Bryson. “She will serve as a great asset to the Department in this new role.”

Dunn-Logan began her career with the Department in 1995 as Senior Mental Health Counselor at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison. In 2001, she transferred to the Cognitive Behavioral Unit of the Programs Division as a Program Development Consultant for Risk Reduction Services. She was transferred to the Operations, Planning and Training Division in 2003, where she served as the Staff Development and Training Coordinator. In 2006, she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Phillips State Prison and was transferred to Metro State Prison, a female facility, in 2007. Dunn-Logan was placed on Developmental Assignment in 2010 as Superintendent at Metro Transitional Center and Helms Transitional Center. In  2013, Dunn-Logan was reassigned to Superintendent of West Central Integrated Treatment Facility, where she most recently served. Prior to her career with the Department, she held positions as Cottage Life Supervisor at the Macon Youth Development Center, Substance Abuse Counselor at the Milledgeville Youth Development Center, Social Services Specialist II with the Bibb and Clayton County Departments of Family and Children Services and Human Services Provider with the Community Service Board in Clayton County.

Dunn-Logan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Fort Valley State College. She earned a Doctoral of Education degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Forensic Psychology department. Dunn-Logan has completed the following GDC courses, Basic Management Training, Basic Correctional Officer Training, Pre-Command, Deputy Wardens Training, POST IT Training, Corrections Leadership Institute and has completed Training Design and Development with the National Institute of Corrections.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners.  It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,000 employees
