Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

On June 4 at Phillips SP, Officer Alyssa Hudson was arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office after leads were developed by the Office of Professional Standards for violation of oath and trading with an offender without consent. 

On June 5 at Telfair SP, security staff observed 3 civilians on facility property. The GDC Canine Unit and Telfair County Sheriff's Office were immediately notified and began searching. Civilians Mitchell Brown, Joseph Battle, and Thomas Jolley were apprehended by the Telfair County Sheriff's Office and escorted to the Telfair County Jail with pending charges. The following contraband was located on the suspects: 1,865 grams of marijuana, 6,900 grams of tobacco, 24 vapes, 1,090 packs of wrapping papers, 48 lighters, 4 digital scales, 1 pack of razors, 21 earbuds, 8 charging blocks, 38 charging cords, 18 cellphones, 1 pair of slides, 11 bandanas, 1 hot plate, 3 game controllers, 1 phone case, 2 projectors, 1 pair of smart glasses, 1 pack of strips, 40 packs of Newports, 1 tool kit with a saw blade, 9 bottles of promethazine, and 2 phones.

On June 20 at Calhoun SP, security staff observed a drone hovering over the facility. Later that evening, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office notified the facility that civilians Elijah Lyons and Howard L. Oliver had been apprehended and were transported to the Calhoun County Jail pending charges.  

On June 22 at Washington SP, the Washington County Sheriff's Office notified the facility of a possible contraband drop. Civilian James Stewart was apprehended by the Washington County Sheriff's Office and escorted to the Washington County jail with pending charges. The following contraband was located on the suspect: 42 cellphones, 27 headphones, 9 Bluetooth speakers, 2 iPads, 1 pair of smart glasses, 30 charging blocks, 70 charging cords, lock pick kit, 2 red pens with a unknown substance inside, 30 lighters, 14 rechargeable cigarette lighters with cords, 1 knife with case, 1 knife, 1 clear vacuumed sealed bag with strips,1 clear sandwich bag with strips, 3 LED lights, 3 nail clippers, 1 rotary device with attachment, 1 small container of magnets, 11 vapes, 16 clear vacuumed sealed bags of marijuana, 10 packs of Newport cigarettes, 10 packs of rolling papers, 50 clear vacuumed sealed bags of tobacco,  1 hotspot box, 1 game controller and 1 hair cutting clippers.
