Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
On January 4 at Telfair SP, the Telfair County Sheriff's Office notified the facility that Civilian Avery Humphry and Civilian Dekameron Anderson had been apprehended near the facility. The Telfair County Sheriff's Office also advised that a package containing 690 grams of tobacco and 8 packs of Bugler rolling papers had been located. Civilian Anderson and Civilian Humphry were searched, and the following contraband was recovered from their persons: 2 cell phones, 1 gram of marijuana, 152 grams of tobacco, 40 lighters, 10 charging blocks, and 10 charging cords. Both civilians were arrested with pending charges and transported to the Telfair County Jail along with the recovered contraband.
On January 4 at McRae WF, after visitation, an offender was routinely searched, and the following contraband was located: 113 grams of suspected meth, an unknown amount of matches, press-on nails, cigarettes, and paper soaked in an unknown substance. Civilian Zaniyah Alexander was arrested and transported to Telfair County Jail, and another civilian, who was a minor, was transported to the youth detention center.
On January 28 at Wilcox SP, a drone was spotted flying near the facility. Abbeville Police Department and GDC Canine Unit responded to the area and arrested Civilians Brittany Gully and Kalen Marshall. One drone and 3 trash bags were recovered which contained 11, 064 grams of tobacco, 1,719 grams of marijuana, 21 grams of Oxycodone, 14 cellphones, 1 internet box, 115 packs of Buglers Rolling Paper, 28 packs of leaf wraps, 60 cigars, 3 drone propellers, 2 bags of zip ties, 9 charging cables, 1 charging block, 1 knife, 1 shirt, 1 pair of pants, 1 sweat shirt, and 4 drone batteries. Civilians Gully and Marshall were transported to Wilcox County Jail with pending charges.
