Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
On March 8 at Dooly SP, security staff observed a suspicious person near the facility. While conducting a search of the area, civilian Shatavious Hill was apprehended. Civilian Hill had on his person a black duffle bag with the following contraband: 2783 grams of tobacco, 84 grams of marijuana, 9 cellphones, 150 rolling papers, 5 sheets of an unknown substance, 10 charging cords, 2 chargers, 4 earbuds, and 2 game controllers. Civilan Hill was arrested and taken to Dooly County jail pending charges.
On March 8 at Dooly SP, security staff was alerted to a suspicious person near the facility. During a search of the area, civilian Eric Ramirez was apprehended. Civilian Ramirez had on his person a package wrapped in black tape with the following contraband: 8642 grams of tobacco, 2 cellphones, 42 vapes, 4 packs of cold medicine, 3 hair clipper sets, 1 speaker, 1 razor, 6 nail clippers, 50 lighters, 21 tubes of glue, 32 charging cords, 5 charging blocks, 6 eyebrow trimmers, 3 pairs of scissors and 2 sim cards. Civilian Ramirez was arrested and taken to Dooly County jail pending charges.
On March 10 at Hancock SP, security staff observed an unidentified suspect throwing contraband over the fence. During a search of the area, Civilian Jirell Jones was apprehended with a black duffle bag. The contraband consisted of the following: 4 pairs of shoes, 5 pairs of underwear, 2 shirts, 2 pairs of shorts, 8 socks, 1 lock, 2 keys, 3 bottles of alcohol, 1 adjustable wrench, 1 pack of zip ties, 1 charging bank, 2 charging cables, 1 bottle of toothpaste, 1 quick start guide, 2 cellphones, 1 personal cellphone, 2,253 grams of tobacco, 1 charging block, 2 vapes, 1 pack of cigars and 1 duffle bag. Civilian Jones was arrested and taken to Hancock County Jail pending charges.
On March 9 at Calhoun SP, security staff observed 2 unidentified persons throwing 2 packages over the fence and running back to the woods. A check of the area was conducted and the following contraband was recovered: 9 cellphones, 2 Apple air tags, 24 charging cords, 9 phone cases, 3 7-inch folding knives, 20 charging blocks, 3 pairs of gloves, 1 pair of shoes, 1 pair of jeans, 2 packs of Sour Patch Kids candy, 2 portable hookahs, 4 cans of gel pepper spray, 54 Kool-Aid packs, 1 pair of rain boots, and 9.9 pounds of tobacco. The unidentified civilians were located, taken into custody, and transported to Calhoun County Sheriff's Office with pending charges.
On March 16 at Hancock SP, At 0211 hours, security staff observed an unidentified individual near the facility. The Hancock County Sheriff's Office (SO) and GDC Canine were notified to conduct a search of the area. Hancock SO arrested Civilian Monte McKenzie on Johnny Britt with 2 backpacks. The contraband consisted of the following: 6,244 grams of tobacco, 124 grams of marijuana, 10 cellphones, 16 charging cords, 4 lighters, 2 nail clippers, 1 cellphone case, 1 tooth whiting kit, 1 container of vape juice, 1 vape, 2 vape cartridges, 2 pairs of earbuds and 6 packs of rolling paper. Civilian McKenzie was arrested and transported to the Hancock County Detention Center with pending charges.
