Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons
On January 29 at Johnson State Prison, Johnson County Sheriff's Office notified the facility that civilians Malcolm Martin and Kahlia Howard were apprehended near the facility. During a search of the area, the following contraband was found: 730 grams of tobacco, 12 cellphones, 1 charger block, 12 packs of rolling paper, 13 charging cables, and 8 startup guides. Both civilians were arrested by Johnson County Sheriff's Office and transported to jail with charges pending.
On January 29 at Valdosta State Prison, security staff observed 2 unidentified civilians near the facility. The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office was notified and conducted a search. Four bundles wrapped in black electrical tape were located. Both unidentified civilians were arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail pending charges.
On January 25 at Calhoun State Prison, an officer observed several bundles wrapped in duct tape near the facility. Security staff responded to the area and retrieved the contraband. Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and The GDC Canine Unit were notified, and a search of the area was conducted, where they apprehended civilian Jabari James. Later in the evening, civilian Marcus Brown was apprehended behind the facility.
On January 25 at Telfair State Prison, Telfair County Sheriff's Office (SO) notified the facility that 2 unidentified civilians were spotted running away from the facility. Telfair County SO advised that civilians Robert Williams Jr and Dominque Assante had been apprehended and taken into custody. After a search, 7 wave caps, 2 cellphones, and 2 charging cords were located in the area.
On January 20 at Hays State Prison, Lori Berry was processing in for work at the front bunker when a search of her belongings revealed contraband. The contraband consisted of 1 bag of tobacco, 20 packs of rolling paper, and 20 pages of paper soaked in an unknown substance. Upon searching her vehicle, a package of THC gummies and rolling papers were found inside. Chattooga County Sheriff's Office arrested Lori Berry.
