Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

On May 5 at Ware SP, staff observed a suspicious person near the facility. Upon searching the area, the unopened backpack was collected by the GDC Canine, and the suspect was detained. The Ware County Sheriff's Office then transported him. 

On May 13 at Hancock SP, a suspicious person was spotted near the facility throwing backpacks over the fence. The Hancock County Sheriff's Office and GDC canine were notified. Three backpacks were located containing the following contraband: 23 cellphones, 34 charger cords, 6 charger blocks, 1 replacement battery, 1 wire cutter, 11 t-shirts, 9 boxers, 10 head wraps, 19 activation cards, 4310 grams of tobacco, 22 packs of cigrallos, and 186 gram of marijuana. The following civilians were arrested: Kristie Tina Sims, Tiana Chanelle Wilburn, China Shyteria Gervin, Joseph Dontavious Marquez and Kenneth Narvarez Wartin. 

On May 18 at GDCP, GDC Caine located a package that contained the following contraband: 5 cellphones, 85 grams of marijuana, 772 grams of tobacco, 4 battery packs, 2 battery chargers, 1 drone camera, 12 charging cables, 4 sim cards, 4 ear pods, 1 flashlight, 1 signal booster for drone, 1 USB, 1 drill set, 1 pack of metal blades, 2 drone controller, 1 drone, 2 USB data cables for drones. Butts County Sheriff's Department arrested civilian Akerian Lawson.

On May 27 at Telfair SP, Telfair County Sheriff's Office notified the facility that a suspicious individual was spotted near the wood line. The GDC Canine Unit detained and identified the suspect as Civilian Quintin Purifie. Civilian Purifie was searched and the following contraband was found: 6049 grams of tobacco, 315 grams of marijuana, 31 packs of rolling paper, 10 packs of cigar paper, 11 chargers, 9 cell phones, 4 lighters, and 4 vapes. Civilian Purifie was arrested by Telfair County Sheriff's Office and transported to Telfair County Jail.
