Contraband Montgomery State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,943 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On October 21 at Montgomery State Prison, a traffic stop near the facility was conducted, and a search found bundles of unknown contraband. Civilians Vandermere Upshaw and Portia Upshaw were arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.
