Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,875 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On April 10, a traffic stop was conducted near Calhoun State Prison. A container of unknown contraband was found in the vehicle. The driver admitted that she was planning to go to the facility to drop the package off. The two unidentified occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.

On April 8 at Valdosta State Prison, an unidentified subject was seen running on facility grounds. A bag with the following contraband was found: wrench, wrench bits, star bit set, pry bar, Dipoxy, flex seal, cigars, men's underwear, touch screen cell phones, cell phone chargers, charging blocks, cell phone batteries, ear buds, meth, rolling paper, lighters and tobacco. Civilian Gibson Roger was arrested and transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

On April 8, a traffic stop was conducted near Smith State Prison. The vehicle contained 03 subjects. A search found a drone and bags with packaged contraband. Donshell Zachary, Kelvy McDaniel and an unidentified female were arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail.
