Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,667 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On April 2 at Johnson State Prison, two civilians were spotted behind the facility, one was found with a bundle of unknown contraband. The unidentified civilians were arrested and transported to the Johnson County Jail.
On April 1 at Telfair State Prison, a vehicle was seen parked near the facility’s woodline. A search found civilian Chad Williams and a package containing cellphones, charging cables, marijuana, tobacco, rolling paper, headphones, necklaces, watches, and t-shirts. Civilian Williams was arrested transported to the Telfair County Jail.
