Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,658 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On February 27 at Rogers State Prison, a traffic stop was conducted near the facility. A search of the vehicle found tobacco, marijuana, and a hand gun. Civilians Chaztin Lewis and Johnathan Bolston were arrested and transported to Tattnall County Jail.
On February 23 at Wilcox State Prison, a drone was seen flying over the facility. A search of the facility grounds was conducted and marijuana, tobacco, cigarillos, smart phones, cellphone chargers and digital scales were found. A vehicle was found near the facility and individuals were seen running from it. One unidentified individual was arrested and transported to the Wilcox County Jail.
On February 22 at Baldwin State Prison, civilian Roger Gibson Jr. was found walking on facility grounds. A search of the area found bags of unknown contraband. Gibson was arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.
