Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,520 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On August 7 at Calhoun State Prison, a traffic stop was conducted near the facility. A search found tobacco, marijuana, and cellphones. Civilians Jenard Warner and Derese Alexander were both arrest and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.  

On August 6 at Baldwin State Prison, an unknown individual was seen on the facility’s grounds. Two packages of contraband were recovered. Probationer Deshawn Houston and Civilian Mohamed Guled were both arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.
