Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,510 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On July 13 at Valdosta State Prison, Officer Shakettia Ball was unable to clear the front entry metal detector. A search of her persons found cigarettes, tobacco and rolling papers. Officer Ball was arrested and transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

On July 12 at Johnson State Prison, three individuals were seen on facility grounds. The following contraband was found: cigarettes, tobacco and marijuana. All three were arrested and transported to the Johnson County Jail.
