Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,475 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On May 29 at Calhoun State Prison, an individual was spotted near the facility. A search found the following contraband: marijuana, tobacco, methamphetamine and Xanax. A traffic stop found Anthony Brown driving from the facility and an unidentified male walking towards the vehicle. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.

On May 28 at Valdosta State Prison, an individual was seen in the ditch near the facility. A search found Probationer Charles Holiday with the following contraband tobacco, rolling paper, cell phones, chargers, lemon juice, and oral pain reliever. Holiday was arrested and transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

On May 26 at Baldwin State Prison, Lieutenant Tracey Wise was arrested due to an ongoing investigation conducted by the Office of Professional Standards. Wise was arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.

On May 25 at Rogers State Prison, a traffic stop was conducted near the facility. A search of the vehicle found an unknown amount of marijuana and tobacco. An unidentified male and female were arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail.

On May 24 at Rogers State Prison, a traffic stop near the facility found two unidentified civilians with marijuana and tobacco. Both civilians were arrested and transported to the Tatnall County Jail.
