Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,470 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On May 23 at Telfair State prison, a traffic stop was conducted near the facility. A search of the vehicle found cellphones, charger cables, charging blocks, tobacco, and marijuana. Civilians Trevon Swinger and Dacari Edwards were arrested and transported to the Telfair County Jail.
On May 17 at Georgia State Prison, Officer Wylene Hunter was observed placing bundles of contraband into a crate. Officer Hunter was arrested and transported to the Tatnall County Jail.
On May 17 at Calhoun State Prison, two people were spotted on the facility’s gun range. A search found civilians Delisa Harrison and Markez Tomblin. They were found with bottles filled with an unknown contraband. Harrison and Tomblin were both arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.
