Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,467 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On May 16 at Macon State Prison, Officer Quadeisha Tookes entered the front entry for duty. A search of her personal items found bundles containing contraband in her umbrella. Officer Tookes was arrested and transported to the Macon County Jail.
On May 12 at Central State Prison, food service staff Calvin Spivey was arrested by the Bibb County Sheriff's Office following an investigation.
On May 10 at Calhoun State Prison, a subject was seen near the facility. A search found two bags with bottles containing marijuana, tobacco and cell phones. Civilians Deshay Baker, Octavious Ludwig, and Allen Bennett were located and admitted to being involved with the contraband drop. Civilian Baker, Civilian Ludwig and Civilian Bennett were arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.
