Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,452 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On March 26 at Dooly State Prison, a person was observed on the facility’s grounds. A search found an unidentified suspect with a backpack with unknown contraband. The unidentified suspect was arrested and transported to the Dooly County Jail.
On March 24 at Calhoun State Prison, a vehicle was parked near the facility. A traffic stop led to the arrest of the driver while the passenger fled the vehicle on foot. A search of the vehicle found marijuana, tobacco Adderall and Xanax. Driver Diamarie Hinton and Civilian William Garage were both arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.
On March 24 at Rogers State Prison, a traffic stop was conducted near the facility. A search of the car found two footballs with the following contraband: cell phones, chargers, marijuana, and tobacco. The driver, Jamal Cado, was arrested and transported to the Tatnall County Jail.
