Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,432 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On February 14 at Hancock State Prison, Officer Kortessia Gilbert consented to a search of her person, where multiple bundles of a green leafy substance were discovered. Officer Gilbert consented to a search of vehicle, which Officer Kortessia Gilbert had also ridden to work in. A search of the vehicle found phones, chargers, and headphones. Both officers were arrested and transported to the Hancock County Jail.
On February 11 at Dooly State Prison, two unidentified individuals were seen near the facility, and another individual was spotted driving up to them. A search of the area and their vehicle found an unknown amount of marijuana. All three unidentified suspects were arrested and transported to the Dooly county jail.
