Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,424 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On January 31 at Dooly State Prison, 2 suspects were seen on facility grounds.  Dooly County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with pursuing the suspects.  1 unidentified male was arrested with a backpack containing contraband, and transported to the local jail.

On January 31 at Calhoun State Prison, an unidentified male was located with contraband.  He was arrested to taken to Calhoun County Jail

On January 30 at Wilcox State Prison, an unknown male was found in the facility’s wood line. A search found the following contraband tobacco, marijuana, and cell phones. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Wilcox County Jail.

On January 26 at Calhoun State Prison, Officer Kiara Graham entered the front entrance and refused to go through the body scanner. A search of her persons found an unknown amount of tobacco. Officer Graham was arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.
