Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,402 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On January 1 at Central State Prison, Contract Nurse Nanantara Pless was unable to clear the metal detector upon entering the facility. A search found contraband in her folder. Nurse Pless was arrested and transported to the Bibb County Jail.

On December 28 at Telfair State Prison, Food service worker Laveon Williams was found with contraband as she entered the facility. Williams was arrested and transported to the Telfair County Jail.
