Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,358 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On September 24 at Wilcox SP, Officer Shawnna Rose was unable to clear the facility body scan device and admitted to having marijuana on her person. Officer Rose was arrested by the Abbeville Police department.
On September 22 at Dooly State Prison, Officer Conswaila Spikes was observed coming through the front entry when bundles of contraband wrapped in black electrical tape fell from her person. Officer Spikes was arrested by the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.
On September 22 at Dooly State Prison, Officer Erika Curry was discovered with bundles of unknown items wrapped in black tape. Officer Curry admitted to bringing in the bundles and having more in her vehicle. Officer Curry was arrested by the Dooly County Sheriff's Office.
