Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,417 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On June 28 at Autry State Prison, upon entering the facility Officer Kamari Williams was found with a bottle containing marijuana, tobacco and 3 more bottles with unknown contraband. Officer Williams was arrested by Mitchell County Sheriff's Office and she was transported to Mitchell County Jail.

On June 28 at Calhoun State Prison, Officer Henry Harris arrived at the facility when the Portal Sergeant at the front entry noticed that he had 3 opened bottles. The Sergeant instructed Officer Harris to pour some of the liquid out and it was revealed to be liquor. Officer Harris was arrested by Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and was transported to Calhoun County Jail.
