Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1.362 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On January 20 at Hays State Prison, a vehicle search of visitor Staci Sexton’s vehicle recovered 4 grams of meth. Sexton was arrested by Chattooga County Sheriff's Office and transported to Chattooga County Jail.

On January 20 at Hays State Prison, 2 grams of marijuana and 29.8 grams of meth on the person of visitor Dawn Pinholster. Visitor Pinholster was arrested by Chattooga County Sheriff's Office.

On January 20 at Telfair State Prison, a traffic stop was conducted near the facility where 1,168 grams of tobacco, 8 grams of marijuana, 15 smartphones, 13 charging cords, 4 bundles of rolling papers, and 1 pair of wire cutters was recovered. Civilians Lauren Crenshaw and Craig Walker were arrested and transported to the Telfair County Jail.

On January 19 at Washington State Prison, Visitor Brandi Crank was found with approximately 36 grams of tobacco on her person. Visitor Crank was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On January 19 at Calhoun State Prison, the canine unit conducted a search of visitor Miriam Modesti's vehicle, where approximately 3.6 grams of marijuana was found. Visitor Miriam was arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail. 

On January 19 at Calhoun State Prison, the canine unit conducted a search of visitor Lilche Stafford's vehicle and approximately 14.4 grams of marijuana was found. Visitor Stafford was arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail. 

On January 16 at Wilcox State Prison, Abbeville Police Department witnessed an individual walking behind the facility and observed him throwing two bags on the side of the road. The suspect was taken into custody.

On January 15 at Calhoun State Prison, an offender was escorted to a doctor’s office for a scheduled appointment. During his visit, the nurses alerted a Lagrange police officer that there was contraband in the bathroom. Approximately 100 grams of ecstasy, 1 ounce of marijuana, 6 touchscreen android phones, and 20 grams of unknown wax substance were recovered. Civilian Vontavia Bryant was arrested and transported to the Muscogee County Jail.
