Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,042 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On March 11 at Burruss Correctional Training Center, Officers observed visitor Katrazus Thompson give an offender a pack of cigarettes. Visitor Thompson was arrested by Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
On March 9 at Wilcox State Prison, Officer Dravian McGill attempted to enter the facility, when security staff noticed a bulge on his person. Officer McGill was searched, and 2 bundles of marijuana were discovered. Officer McGill was arrested by Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 6 at Dodge State Prison, Officer Renaisha Granderson attempted to enter the facility, when she was observed with a bulge on her person. When questioned she revealed a one-pound bundle of tobacco. Officer Granderson was arrested by Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
