Contraband Arrest at Washington State Prison
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 791 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On January 9, at Washington State Prison, Visitor Julia Payne attempted to enter the facility. Payne was unable to clear the metal detector and admitted that she had four small bags of methamphetamine in her waist area. Visitor Payne was arrested by the Davisboro Sheriff’s Department.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
