New Director of the Offender Administration Unit

Emily Stewart Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Emily Stewart, Deputy Director of the Offender Administration (OA) Unit, to Director of the OA Unit, effective September 16, 2026. As Director, Stewart will be responsible for overseeing the operations of Offender Management, Releases, and Sentence Computation.

"Emily has gained a wealth of correctional knowledge as she worked her way up through the ranks while serving in various positions during her tenure,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident she will apply that knowledge and continue to excel in this essential role in OA.”

Stewart began her career with the GDC in 2016 as an Administrative Assistant at the OA Unit. During her tenure at the OA Unit, she was promoted to Supervisor of the Secure Alternative Unit, Manager of the Intake/Movement Unit, and in 2023, she was promoted to Deputy Director of the OA Unit, where she currently serves.

 Stewart earned an Associate degree in Healthcare Management from the Ultimate Medical Academy, and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Columbus State University. Her departmental training consists of Supervision I, II, and III, POST Instructor Training, and Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
