New Superintendent at Lee Arrendale Transitional Center

Courtney McDay Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Courtney McDay, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Phillips State Prison (SP), to Superintendent at Lee Arrendale Transitional Center (TC), effective September 1, 2026. As Superintendent, McDay will be responsible for overseeing staff members and female residents.

"McDay has proven herself to be an effective and dedicated leader during her tenure with the agency," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident she will continue to uphold the GDC mission with commitment and integrity as she takes on her new role as Superintendent."

McDay began her career with the Department in 2006 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP). During her tenure at GDCP, she was promoted through the ranks of Correctional Officer II and Behavioral Health Counselor II.  In 2017, she was promoted to Chief Counselor at West Central Integrated Treatment Facility, and in 2021, she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Phillips State Prison, where she currently serves.

McDay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Albany State University.  Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Motivational Interviewing, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Mental Health Training, Deputy Warden’s Academy, and numerous counseling programs.
