Angela Ivester Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Angela Ivester, Deputy Director of Operations with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to Director of OIT, effective April 16, 2026. As Director, Ivester will oversee and coordinate the development and evolution of information technology, all activities related to enterprise systems development and technical services, and the overall operation of OIT.

“Angela’s extensive knowledge and experience in IT operations have proven to be extremely valuable to the agency,” said Commissioner Tyone Oliver. “We are confident that she will continue to uphold the mission of the GDC while advancing our technological initiatives.”  

Ivester has served the State of Georgia for more than 20 years, bringing extensive experience in public-sector information technology leadership. She joined the GDC in 2019 as Deputy Director of Operations within the Office of Information Technology. Over the course of her career, Ivester has provided executive oversight and strategic direction across IT operations, cybersecurity, network management, project delivery, and vendor relations. 

Ivester holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Louisville and a Master of Information Technology from American InterContinental University.
