New Deputy Warden of Security at the Special Management Unit
Jalaludin Douglas Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Jalaludin Douglas, Unit Manager at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP), to Deputy Warden of Security at the Special Management Unit (SMU), effective April 16, 2026. As Deputy Warden of Security, Douglas will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and male offenders.
“Jalaludin has consistently displayed a strong work ethic and exceptional leadership qualities,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident his proven experience and commitment to the GDC mission will ensure continued success as he assumes his new role at the SMU .”
Douglas began his career with the GDC in 2000 at GDCP as a Correctional Officer. In 2006, he was promoted to Sergeant at the Lamar Pre-Release Center, and in 2010, he was promoted to Lieutenant at Metro State Prison (SP). Following the closure of Metro SP, he transferred back to GDCP, and in 2011 he transferred to SMU. In 2023, he was promoted to Unit Manager at GDCP, where he currently serves.
Douglas’ departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Effective Communication, Sergeants Academy, Lieutenant Academy, and Recruitment and Retention Academy.
