New Deputy Warden of Security at Baldwin State Prison
Gerald Walker Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Gerald Walker, Unit Manager at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP), to Deputy Warden of Security at Baldwin State Prison (SP), effective April 16, 2026. As Deputy Warden of Security, Walker will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and male offenders.
“Gerald has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a strong work ethic as he worked his way up through the ranks with GDC,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident that he will continue to be steadfast in upholding the GDC mission as he takes the next step in his correctional career.”
Walker began his career with the GDC in 2006 at Rockdale Probation Detention Center as a Correctional Officer, and in 2008 he transferred to Metro SP where he served on the Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT). In 2011, he was promoted to Sergeant at Phillips SP, and in 2015, he was promoted to Lieutenant at the GDCP. In 2020, he was promoted to Unit Manager at GDCP, where he currently serves.
Walker’s departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, CERT Basic, TACT Squad Basic, and Sergeant’s Academy.
