New Superintendent at Metro Transitional Center

LaTia Alexander Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of LaTia Alexander, Assistant Superintendent at Metro Transitional Center (TC), to Superintendent at Metro TC, effective March 16, 2026. As Superintendent, Alexander will be responsible for overseeing all staff and supervising female offenders at the facility.

"LaTia has been a dedicated and dependable leader during her tenure with the agency," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We look forward to her continued dedication and leadership as she takes on her new role as Superintendent."

Alexander began her career with the Department in 2014 as a Correctional Officer at Burruss Correctional Training Center. In 2017, she transitioned to Metro Reentry Facility, and in 2018, she joined the Georgia Department of Community Supervision as a Community Supervision Officer. In 2022, she returned to Metro Reentry Facility as a Behavioral Health Counselor, and in 2023 she was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Metro Transitional Center, where she currently serves. 

Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of West Georgia and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in counselor education with a concentration in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at Albany State University. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Probation and Parole Training, Basic Counselor Training, Assistant Superintendent Training, POST Instructor Training, Sergeant’s Academy, and Crisis Intervention Training.
