New Warden at Macon State Prison
Delvin Peoples Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Delvin Peoples, Special Assistant to the Warden at Macon State Prison (SP), to Warden at Macon SP, effective January 16, 2026. As Warden, Peoples will be responsible for overseeing staff members and approximately 1,744 male offenders.
"Delvin’s leadership experience and work ethic have proven to be an invaluable asset to the agency," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident that his vast correctional knowledge will help ensure success for both the staff and offenders at Macon SP."
Peoples began his career with the GDC in 2006 as a Correctional Officer at Lee State Prison (SP). During his tenure at Lee SP, he served in various roles, including Sergeant, Tactical Squad Commander, CERT Sergeant, Lieutenant, and the Recruitment and Retention Lieutenant for the Southwest Region. In 2018, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at McEver Probation Detention Center and later that year he was promoted to Superintendent at Albany Transitional Center, where he served until its closure in 2019. In 2024, he was reassigned to Calhoun SP as Deputy Warden of Security and in 2024, he was promoted to Special Assistant to the Warden at Macon SP, where he currently serves.
Peoples’ departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Special Operations Training, the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Supervision I, II, and III, Effective Communications, Sergeant’s Academy, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Wardens Pre-Command, and Deputy Warden of Security Training.
