New Deputy Warden of Security at Phillips State Prison
Dorothy Andre Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Dorothy Andre, Unit Manager at Phillips State Prison (SP), to Deputy Warden of Security at Phillips SP, effective January 16, 2026. As Deputy Warden of Security, Andre will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 751 male offenders.
“Andre has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a strong work ethic as she worked her way up through the ranks with GDC,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident that she will continue to be steadfast in upholding the GDC mission as she takes the next step in her correctional career.”
Andre began her career with the GDC in 2015 at Phillips SP as a Correctional Officer, and in 2016 she was promoted to Sergeant. In 2019, she was promoted to Field Training Officer, and in 2020 she was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2023 she was promoted to Unit Manager, where she currently serves.
Andre is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Georgia State University. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeant’s Academy, Supervision I, II, and III, Field Training Officer Academy and POST Instructor Training.
