Aiyesha Johnson Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Aiyesha Johnson, Accounting Technician III at Appling Integrated Treatment Facility (ITF), to Deputy Warden of Administration at Ware State Prison (SP), effective January 16, 2026. As Deputy Warden, Johnson will be responsible for the management of the facility's business office, property/supply operations, and food service departments. 

"Aiyesha has gained a wealth of correctional knowledge while working her way up through the ranks as part of the GDC team," said Commissioner Oliver. "We are confident that she will continue to lead with integrity as she takes on her new role managing the business operations at Ware SP."

Johnson began her career with the department in 2007 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison (SP), and in 2013, she transferred to Appling ITF as a Correctional Officer II. In 2017, she transitioned to Administrative Support I, and in 2018, she was promoted to Administrative Support II at Georgia SP. In 2020, she was promoted to Administrative Support III, and in 2021, she was promoted to Financial Operations Generalist I. Following the closure of Georgia SP that same year, she transferred to Bacon Probation Detention Center, as a Financial Operations Generalist II. In 2023, she returned to Appling ITF as an Accounting Technician III, where she currently serves.

Johnson earned an associate degree in business healthcare technology from Coastal Pines Technical College. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Governmental Accounting I & II, and Supervision I, II, and III.
