New Deputy Warden of Administration at Hancock State Prison

Chequita Adams Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Chequita Adams, Accounting Technician III at Baldwin State Prison to Deputy Warden of Administration at Hancock State Prison (SP), effective January 16, 2026. As Deputy Warden of Administration, Adams will be responsible for overseeing the business office, property/supply operations, and food service departments at the facility, which houses approximately 1,199 male offenders.

“Chequita has proven herself to be an effective leader during her time with the agency,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We look forward to seeing her excel in her new role as Deputy Warden of Administration at Hancock SP.” 

After a twenty-year career in healthcare, Adams began her career with the GDC in 2020, as a Human Resources Tech at Augusta State Medical Prison. In 2021, she transferred to the Special Management Unit and was promoted later that year to Financial Operations Generalist II with the North Region Office. In 2022, she was promoted to Financial Operations Generalist III. In 2023 she transferred to Baldwin SP in the same position and in 2024, she assumed the role of Accounting Technician III, where she currently serves. 

Adams received her master’s in health administration from the University of Phoenix, where she also completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Administration. She also received her Medical Assisting Certification from Central Georgia Technical College, and she has completed training for Georgia Certified Procurement Associate.
