New Coordinator of Field Operations Risk Management and Standards
Meosha McMillan Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Meosha McMillan, Warden at Burruss Correctional Training Center, to Coordinator of Field Operations Risk Management and Standards, effective January 16, 2026. As Coordinator, McMillan will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of risk management protocols and standards within field operations, serving as a liaison to various units within the agency and ensuring effective communication and adherence with established guidelines.
“Meosha has developed a comprehensive understanding of correctional practices over her twenty-three years as part of the GDC team,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident that she will approach this new role with dedication and a steadfast commitment to excellence.”
McMillan began her career with the GDC in 2003 as a Probation Officer I/II in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. In 2006, she was promoted to Inmate Classification Examiner in the Offender Administration Unit. She was promoted to Diagnostic Unit Manager in 2008 at Metro State Prison (SP), and to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment in 2010. Following the closure of Metro SP in 2011, she was assigned to serve as Assistant Superintendent at Clayton Transitional Center, and in 2013, she was promoted to Superintendent of Macon Transitional Center. In 2014, McMillan was promoted to Private Prison Monitor at Jenkins Correctional Facility and was then transferred in 2015 to the Riverbend Correctional Facility to serve the same capacity. In 2016, McMillan was promoted to Warden at Emanuel Women’s Facility, and in 2020 she was reassigned to Pulaski SP as Warden. In 2023, she was reassigned to Warden at Burruss Correctional Training Center, where she currently serves.
McMillan holds a bachelor’s degree of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University, a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Shorter College, and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. Her departmental training consists of Leadership GDC, Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Probation Officer Training, POST IT, Basic Management Training (BMT), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), Sex Offender Training, Basic Accounting, and Wardens and Chiefs Pre-Command.
