New Assistant Superintendent at Bacon Transitional Center
Eric Griner Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Eric Griner, Lieutenant at Bacon Probation Detention Center (PDC), to Assistant Superintendent at Bacon Transitional Center (TC), effective October 16, 2025. Assistant Superintendent Griner is responsible for assisting the Superintendent with the daily operations of the facility, overseeing staff, and supervising approximately 96 male residents.
"Griner has been a dedicated team member and exceptional leader during his tenure with the agency," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We look forward to seeing him excel as he takes the next step in his correctional career at Bacon TC."
Griner began his career in 2010 as a Correctional Officer at Ware State Prison SP. In 2017, he joined the Tactical Squad and was promoted to CERT member. In 2019, Griner was promoted to Sergeant, and in 2023, he was promoted to Lieutenant at Bacon PDC, where served until his most recent promotion.
Griner attended Central Georgia Technical College, where he obtained a certificate in Emergency Management Training. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeants Academy, Supervision I, Lieutenants Academy, Chief of Security Academy, Assistant Superintendent Training, and Hostage Negotiations.
