New Director of Engineering and Construction Services Named
David Jones Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of David Jones, Senior Manager, Engineering and Facility Support to Director, Engineering and Construction Services (ECS), effective October 1, 2025. Jones will assume responsibility for leading the ECS division, overseeing the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the GDC's physical infrastructure.
"David has proven himself as a competent leader and an invaluable asset to GDC, and we are confident he will bring that same level of commitment and dedication as he leads ECS," said Commissioner Oliver. "His extensive experience and proven leadership make him well prepared to guide the division’s important work.”
Jones began his career with the GDC in 1999 as a Correctional Officer at Scott State Prison (SP), where he served for nine years in a security role. In 2008, he transitioned to the maintenance department at Rivers SP. During his tenure with the maintenance department, he worked at Scott SP and Baldwin SP. In 2013, he was promoted to Assistant Regional Engineer in the Central Region with Engineering and Construction Services (ECS). While working in ECS, he was promoted to Regional Engineer for the North Region, Regional Manager for Maintenance, and Regional Manager of Construction Services for the North Region. In 2022, he was promoted to Senior Manager over Engineering and Facility Support.
Jones holds a degree in Air Conditioning Technology from Central Georgia Technical College. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Boot Camp Basic Course, Semi-Auto Transitional Training, Basic Management Training, and Correctional Emergency Response Team Basic Training.
