Micheal Thomas Reassigned

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the reassignment of Micheal Thomas, Warden at Dodge State Prison (SP), to Warden at Wilcox SP, effective July 16, 2025. As Warden, Thomas will be responsible for overseeing staff members and approximately 1,833 male offenders.

"Micheal has worked his way up through the ranks, always leading by example," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. " We are proud to have him as a part of our team and are confident that his correctional knowledge will continue to prove valuable to the mission and staff at Wilcox SP."

Thomas began his career with the Department in 2010 as a Counselor at Macon State Prison (SP).  In 2013, he was promoted to Chief Counselor at Central State Prison, and in 2015 he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment. In 2022, he was promoted to Superintendent of McEver Probation Detention Center, and in 2024, he was promoted to Warden at Dodge SP, where he currently serves.

 Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Campbellsville University. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Counselor Training, Basic Management Training, Basic Counselor Training, Deputy Warden’s Academy, Sexual Assault Response Team, and Warden’s Pre-Command.
