New Superintendent at Appling Integrated Treatment Facility
Dedrick Anthony Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Dedrick Anthony, Assistant Superintendent at Appling Integrated Treatment Facility (ITF), to Superintendent at Appling ITF, effective July 16, 2025. As Superintendent, Anthony will be responsible for overseeing staff and supervising male detainees.
"Dedrick has worked his way up through the ranks and proven his dedication to the mission during his tenure with the department," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "That dedication will be paramount in his leadership role as he and his team carry out the mission at Appling ITF.
Anthony began his career with the GDC in 2009 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison (SP). During his tenure at Georgia SP, he was promoted to the CERT team, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. In 2020, he joined the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, where he served as a Security Police Officer and Lieutenant. In 2022, he rejoined the GDC as a Correctional Officer at Rogers SP and then transferred to Coastal SP. Later that year, he was promoted to Sergeant and Lieutenant. In 2023, he was promoted to Chief of Security at Emanuel Probation Detention Center, and in 2024, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Appling ITF, where he currently serves.
Anthony is currently enrolled at Eastern Gateway Community College, pursuing a degree in criminal justice. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, CERT and TACT Squad Basic Training, Sergeant’s Academy, Lieutenants Academy, Supervision I, II, and III, Chief of Security Training, and Deputy Wardens Academy.
