New Facilities Regional Operations Coordinator at Jenkins Correctional Facility
Edwina Johnson Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Edwina Johnson, Private Prison Monitor at Coffee Correctional Facility (CF), to Regional Operations Coordinator at Jenkins CF, effective July 16, 2025. As Regional Operations Coordinator, Johnson will be responsible for monitoring the facility's operations to ensure that all contract conditions are met and the facility operates with a continuous focus on sanitation, safety, and security.
"Edwina has proven herself to be an effective leader throughout her tenure with the department," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We look forward to seeing her excel as she takes on her new role as Regional Operations Coordinator at Jenkins CF."
Johnson began her career with the State of Georgia in 1988 as a Case Manager with the Department of Family and Children Services. In 2000, she joined the Georgia Department of Corrections as a Counselor at Smith State Prison (SP), and then transferred to Ware SP. During her tenure at Ware SP, she was promoted to Chief Counselor in 2011 and Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment in 2012. In 2021, she was promoted to Private Prison Monitor at Coffee CF, where she currently serves.
Johnson holds an associate’s degree in education from Brewton Parker Jr. College and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Savannah State College. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Counselor Training, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, Corrections Leadership Institute, Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II, and III, and Management I, II, and III.
