Carl Anderson Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Carl Anderson, Unit Manager at Rogers State Prison (SP), to Assistant Superintendent at Smith Transitional Center (TC), effective July 16, 2025. As Assistant Superintendent, Anderson will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with the daily operations of the facility, overseeing staff, and supervising male residents.

"Carl has demonstrated a remarkable work ethic while working his way up through the ranks during his twenty-nine-year tenure," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident he will continue to uphold the values and mission of the agency while taking on her new role as Assistant Superintendent."

Anderson began his career with the department in 1996 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison, where he rose through the ranks to Sergeant and Lieutenant. In 2021, he was promoted to Unit Manager at Rogers SP, where he currently serves. 

Anderson's departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Correctional Emergency Response Training, Tactical Squad Basic Training, Fire Inspector Training, and Supervision I, II, and III. Anderson also proudly served in the United States Army and the Georgia National Guard.
