New Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Metro Reentry Facility
LaTrese Schofield Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of LaTrese Schofield, Business Support Analyst III at Metro Reentry Facility, to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Metro Reentry Facility, effective May 1, 2025. As Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment, Schofield is responsible for overseeing the delivery of educational programs, health services, library services, counseling programs, recreational services, and the mental health services of male offenders at the facility.
“LaTrese has been a dedicated team member who has consistently displayed a strong work ethic,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are confident that her correctional knowledge will continue to be an asset to staff and offenders as she takes on this new role.”
Schofield began her career with the GDC in 1996 as a part-time GED instructor, and in 2001, she transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in the same capacity. She also served with the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services before returning to the GDC in 2005 as the Residential Housing Coordinator for Mental Health Management in the Office of Health Services (OHS). In 2010, she was promoted to Medical Reprieve Coordinator with OHS, and in 2017, she transitioned to Metro Reentry Facility as a Business Support Analyst III, where she served until her most recent promotion.
Scofield earned a Bachelor of Science from Fort Valley State University. Her departmental training includes Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Cognitive and Substance Abuse Training, and POST Instructor Training.
