Jody Yancey Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Jody Yancey from Deputy Warden of Security at McRae Women's Facility (WF) to Warden at McRae WF, effective January 16, 2025. As Warden, Yancey will be responsible for overseeing all staff members and female offenders. Yancey will assume his post at McRae WF ahead of its official opening to ensure a smooth transition for both staff and offenders.  

"Yancey has worked his way up through the ranks and excelled at each position he has held," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident that his correctional knowledge and unwavering dedication will prove beneficial as he takes on this new role."

Yancey began his career with the GDC in 1995 as a Correctional Officer at Wilcox State Prison (SP). During his tenure at Wilcox, he rose through the ranks of Lieutenant and Assistant Chief of Security. In 2007, he began working with CoreCivic as Assistant Chief of Security at McRae Correctional Facility (CF). During his tenure with McRae CF, he was promoted to Chief of Security, Unit Manager, and Assistant Warden-Programs and Inmate Services. In 2022, he transferred to Coffee Correctional Facility as Assistant Warden, and in 2023, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Administration at McRae WF, where he currently serves.

Yancey's departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Communications/De-escalation Training, and Basic Management Training.
