New Deputy Warden of Security at Augusta State Medical Prison
Latasha Harris Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Latasha Harris, Lieutenant at August State Medical Prison (ASMP) to Deputy Warden of Security at ASMP effective November 16, 2024. As Deputy Warden of Security, Harris will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 1,189 male offenders.
“Latasha has been a dedicated leader in each position she has held with the agency while working her way up through the ranks,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are proud to have her as part of our team and look forward to her continued leadership at ASMP while she assumes her new role as Deputy Warden of Security.”
Harris began her career with the GDC in 2020 as a Correctional Officer at Washington State Prison (SP). The following year, she transferred to ASMP where she currently serves and has risen through the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant.
Harris is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeant Academy, Basic Management Training, and Unit Manager Training.
