New Special Assistant to the Warden at Pulaski State Prison
Gloria Turnage Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Gloria Turnage, Superintendent at Columbus Transitional Center (TC) to Special Assistant to the Warden at Pulaski State Prison (SP) effective September 16, 2024. As Special Assistant to the Warden, Turnage will assist the Warden with daily operations of the facility and management of staff and offenders.
“Gloria has been a dedicated employee who has worked her way up through the ranks,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are confident in her leadership skills and look forward to seeing her excel in this new role as she continues to uphold the mission of the agency.”
Turnage began her career with the GDC in 2005 at the Columbus Diversion Center as a General Clerk and was promoted to Secretary II at Rutledge SP later that year. Turnage was promoted to Counselor at Columbus Transitional Center in 2007, and in 2014, she was appointment Chief Counselor at Rutledge SP. In 2016, Turnage was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at Rutledge SP, and in 2017 she was promoted to Superintendent at Columbus TC, where she currently serves.
Turnage holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Troy State University. Her departmental training consists of Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Correctional Leadership Institute, Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment Academy, Georgia Crisis Intervention Team Training sponsored by the National Alliance of Mental Health (NAMI), Effective Communication Training, and Wardens Pre-Command.
