Tamikia Mahoney Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Tamikia Mahoney, Assistant Superintendent at Augusta Transitional Center (TC) to Deputy Warden of Security at Hancock State Prison (SP) effective September 1, 2024. As Deputy Warden of Security, Mahoney is responsible for overseeing staff members and 1,185 male offenders.

“During her tenure, Tamikia has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities while working her way up through the ranks,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are proud to have her as a part of our team and are confident that she will excel in her new role.”

Mahoney began her career with the GDC at Wilkes Pre-Release Center in 2006 as a Correctional Officer. In 2011, she was promoted to Counselor at Hancock SP, then transferred to Whitworth Women’s Facility in the same capacity. In 2013, she was promoted to Chief Counselor at Hancock SP and in 2017 she was promoted to Unit Manager. In 2018, she was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Augusta Transitional Center, where she currently serves.

Mahoney’s departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Initial Counseling Training, Corrections Leadership Institute, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, and Assistant Superintendent Training.
