New Warden at Coastal State Prison
Phillip Glenn Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Phillip Glenn, Deputy Warden of Security at Coastal State Prison (SP) to Warden at Coastal SP, effective June 16, 2024. As Warden, Glenn will be responsible for overseeing all staff members and approximately 1,570 medium-security male offenders.
“Phillip has been a dedicated team member who worked his way up through the ranks proving himself along the way,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We are confident that his leadership and correctional knowledge will benefit the staff and offenders at Coastal SP.”
Glenn began his career with the department in 1998 as a Craftsman at Valdosta SP, and in 2004, was promoted to Trades Supervisor at Coastal SP. In 2011, he was promoted to Maintenance Engineer at Smith SP, and in 2014, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Administration. Later in 2014, he transferred to Coastal SP and in 2022, he transferred to Deputy Warden of Security, where he currently serves.
Glenn attended Columbus State University and his departmental training consists of Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Purchasing Card Training, E-Procurement Training, Georgia Certified Purchasing Agent (GCPA) and Advanced Purchasing certification, Basic Correctional Officer Training, Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Deputy Warden’s Academy, Supervision I, II, & III, and Warden’s Pre-Command.
